What you get with Mediation:

Individual Mediation Preparation:

  1. Workbook

  2. Mediation screening with them pertaining to possible issues of relationship dynamics, communication challenges, power dynamics, domestic violence, addictions and voluntariness of engaging in the process.

  3. Three hour individual meeting for each of you is designed to cost effectively review these issues as well as interests each of you have regarding parenting, income and property matters to best prepare you for your joint mediation sessions.

  4. I have a Workbook that you will each receive and once the Workbook is reviewed in session and you have provided the necessary homework, prior to joint sessions, you will have

  • joint reporting letter outlining the matters already agreed upon and not needed to be addressed in joint sessions also including:

  • identified positives, challenges and homework required for joint sessions;

  • a property division excel chart outlining your identified property and identified fair market values;

  • when support issues are involved, tools to help you see ranges of support created by predictive software;

  • any co-parenting or communication best practices that I can recommend based on work to date;

  • personal homework you can each use to help you prepare for joint mediation sessions.

Joint Mediation Sessions:

You will certainly be working together and in joint sessions when you are making proposals or agreements on matters - that is the root of mediation (making agreements together) however in my experience of mediating with clients, working individually to collect the groundwork information before joint sessions is the most cost effective way to do so. It also provides an opportunity for me to develop a relationship with each of you that can increase my ability to lead you both in challenging conversations.

Drafting and Transition to Independent Legal Advice (“ILA”):
